January 9, 2021 We made a trip up to Bear Island WMA. This trip was in search of White Pelicans and Tundra Swan. We arrived just after sunrise on this chilly morning. This time of year Bear Island is restricted, there is limited access to Mary's Pond along both sided of Bennett's Point road. As we pulled in 11 White Pelicans flew over. On Mary's Pond there were only 4 Tundra Swan on the pond. This was disappointing, but short lived. We found 30+ Tundra Swans on the other side of Bennett's Point road. We also found American Avocet and Bonaparte Gulls. On our way home we swung into Donnelley WMA but, not much happening there. However we did see 8 Roseate Spoonbills and 3 Black-crowned Night herons way off in the distance in the waters passed the Lodge.
